AMMANFORD will be hosting a series of events including walks for Fair Trade Fortnight.

Ammanford Fair Trade Town Group has been working on spreading awareness and usage of Fair Trade products for two decades - becoming Wales' first Fair Trade Town - and will be hosting a number of events between February 27-March 12.

Phil Broadhurst will be continuing his 20 walks to celebrate 20 years of Ammanford as a Fair Trade town. He will be doing one walk on Monday, February 27 at 9.30am at Llandeilo Co-Op for a walk to Dryslwyn Community Shop.

His second will be on Wednesday, March 8 for a walk around Ammanford, which will leave The Lantern following the coffee morning mentioned below.

On Wednesday, March 8, there will be a Fair Trade coffee morning at The Lantern/Y Llusern on Wind Street from 10am. It will promote Fair Trade and raise money for the DEC Turkey and Syria earthquake appeal.

On Thursday, March 9, there will be a cawl lunch at 12.30pm as part of their St David’s Day celebrations and a guest speaker. There will also be fairtrade tea and coffee with the meal. On Friday, March 10, secondary school age children can take part in a youth club ‘hangout’ at The Lantern between 7pm and 8.30pm, discussing why fairtrade is important and snacking on fairtrade treats.

Ammanford’s famous Fairtrade Feast will take place on Friday, May 12.
