Another agonising defeat suffered by Amman United ,where the final score doesn't tell the whole story.

Amman will never have such a much better opportunity to break their duck, after their opponents self-destructed in the second half. After a pretty drab, scrappy first half which ended 0-0, it all kicked off after the restart. Milford had a player sent off for foul play, and only minutes later, his team mate followed with a red card after a stamp on Amman's Dan Jones. The  victory was there for the taking, you felt, particularly when Milford were down to 12 men in the last 15 minutes following yet another card, this time a yellow. This summed up a bruising, physical encounter in which tempers got frayed at times and there were a fair few scuffles and "handbags", one in particular where every single player seemed to get stuck into a mass melee.

The match almost didn't take place; Cwmamman Park was still frozen in parts, so the match was switched to Ammanford. United started quite well Dan Jones, Iwan James, George Clarke and Teifion Davies with some bright moments, and Rhydian Jones with some typical terrier-like tackling. Outside half Adrian Thomas hooked a 20th minute penalty wide for Amman, who lost Liam Danter to a yellow card before half time of a forgettable first period.

Things could only get better, but Amman proved to be their own downfall, having the ball turned over in attack, and the visitors scored a try from out of the blue, Ieuan Davies running in from far out to record the try, converted by James Trueman.

The second half madness then ensued as the Australian referee began dishing out some more post-Christmas cards as Milford began losing their discipline completely. Dylan Matthews and sub Chris Rees got through some good work for the Reds, before a cynical stamp on Dan Jones reduced the visitors to 13.

Amman sensed their chance, and soon exploited the two-man advantage, spreading it wide for scrum half Gavin Lewis to cross for the seemingly inevitable corner try which Thomas converted to make it 7-7.

But despite their lack of numbers, the visitors held their own, and ventured upfield, winning a penalty, which Trueman sent over to regain their lead. But, there could still be only one possible winner surely. However, Amman shot themselves in the foot again; from an attacking lineout near the try line, their lineout weakness prevailed again, they lost the ball, Milford were on the attack and following a length of the field move, a high tackle was penalised in a kickable position, and Trueman again made no mistake.

With five minutes left and Milford now down to 12 players after a third card, Rhodri Newton and Liam Danter took them close to the line and the pressure finally told as Dan Jones drove over. Crucially though, they needed the conversion to win, and Adrian Thomas' effort went agonisingly wide.

Final score: Amman United 12 - 13 Milford Haven.

A losing bonus point was little consolation for the Amman in a game they should have won. Their quest continues with a home fixture against Loughor on Saturday, January 20.
