Cwmgors' Division 3 cup journey ended at Nantymoel as the Cherries crashed to a 40-15 defeat at Old Park in the third round, Nant marching on to the quarter finals.

Cwmgors kicked off, but they were soon on the back foot as the home side stormed into a 16-0 lead courtesy of a brace of tries and a couple of penalty successes.

But the visitors hit back well, the forwards getting on their bikes, and their excellent work was rewarded as Owen Davies went over for the try.

A third Nantymoel try followed, but the Cherries came roaring back in good style, the 'Gors forwards again the catalyst with some impressive work before Liam Griffiths crossed for the try. Their mini revival soon continued when they caught the hosts with a quickly taken penalty, Joseff Davies caught the defence napping to go over the line to make it 21-15 at half time.

But Cwmgors were then frozen out in the second half, Nantymoel grabbing a hat trick of tries in the second period as Cwm failed to score any further points. Cwmgors can now concentrate on the league, and on Saturday make the journey to take on Bryncoch.

Final score: Nantymoel 40 – 15 Cwmgors.
