LLANDYBIE Tennis Club's men's side picked up a win in midweek as they defeated Llanelli Tennis Club at home.

The result of the amtch was tied at three events apiece, however Llandybie won on countback, having won more sets and more games than their opponents.

The pairing of Iestyn Davies and Sam Ewens won both of their matches.

They took a 6-2 6-1 victory first up, before winning the second match 6-3 6-2.

Anthony Davies and Chris Gray also picked up a win 7-5 6-3, but suffered a defeat in their second match, going down in straight sets 2-6 2-6.

The pairing of captain, Jonathon Thomas and Rhydian Jones, lost both of their matches in deciding tie breaks.

The first match was tied 4-6 6-4 before a tie break defeat, and the second went the same way.

After winning the first set 6-4, the pair went down 2-6 in the second and came out on the wrong end of the tie break.

It was enough for a Llandybie victory though, as they won eight sets to Llanelli's six, and 59 games to Llanelli's 50.

The Llandybie Ladies team travelled to Cardiff Castle Tennis Club.

The ladies, finding the premier league a difficult experience, lost the match by five events to one event.

The pairing of Eryl Davies and Elin Morris won the one event.

The pairings of Chloe Alpine and Tracey Alpine and that of Luna Walsh and Venetia Simpson were unsuccessful.

Matches were supported by LBS Builders Merchants.

The next round of matches will have the men's team at home to Swansea Tennis Club and the Ladies away to Allt Yr Yn, Newport Tennis Club.
