TWELVE competitors from Amman Valley Swimming Club swam over the weekend at the Swansea Valley Open Meet held in Neath, which attracted entries across South Wales and the west of England. This was the first Open since the regrading of the club's squads under Head Coach Paul Dowey.

Club swimmers Joshua Chapman, Ben Evans, Elin Gordon, Gwion Jones, Osian Jones, Sion Kupsans, Alex Laius, Sophie McLaughlin, Osian Morgan, Steffan Morris, Caitlin Owen and Rachel Richards set 48 new personal bests from 59 swims.

Osian Jones (11) narrowly missed the podium with strong fourth places in the Under 12's 100m freestyle & 100m breastroke races. Finalists Sion Kupsans and Steffan Morris came 6th and 5th in the Under 10's 50m breastroke and Josh Chapman fourth in the Under 13's butterfly, all receiving plaques.

Medal winners were Steffan Morris (8), winning gold medals in the Boys Under 10 years 200m freestyle and 50m backstroke and silver medals in the 100m individual medley & 50m freestyle (5/100's from the previous event record) & Joshua Chapman (12), winning gold medals for 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle & 100m backstroke, a silver medal for 200m individual medley and bronze for 400m freestyle in the Boys Under 13 events.
