AMMAN United’s sticky start to the season continued with another defeat on their trip to Bont.
The Amman confidence is low, but the visitors, with a number of youngsters battling away for the cause, competed in the first half, but all they could muster was a fine individual try from centre Liam Smith, currently playing on a permit.
Gavin Lewis added the conversion and had also kicked a penalty, but United’s uphill task was made worse when they lost one of their influential players, as Lewis went off with a head injury after just half an hour. Bont held a 34-10 half-time lead.
Amman, for whom forwards Alun Lewis and Lee Thomas worked hard throughout, and Ceri Jones did well in the backs, had the consolation of a solitary second half try as their best player Liam Smith took a quick tap and go to go over for his second try. Adrian Thomas converted Amman sit next to bottom in the table. On Saturday they go to Tregaron, the only team below them who are still looking for their first point.
