Ammanford U16s 4 Dafen U16s 1
Ammanford continue their powerful start to the season and maintained their 100 per cent unbeaten record.
Having recently drawn 1-1 in the Welsh Cup, the sides faced each other for the third time this season.
The hosts started slowly while the visitors opened brightly and could have gone ahead early on when the Dafen striker forced a good save from keeper Ayesha Fairclough who was up quickly to gather the ball before the on rushing attackers could tap in.
The hosts gradually battled their way into the game and went close midway through the half when Elly Harris was only inches from connecting with Aimee Heath’s cross. With pressure building the home team forced the opener when Maya Conway released Chantel Mann. Mann’s attention proved too much for the Dafen defender who chipped her goal keeper to give the hosts the lead.
Ammanford went two up five minutes later when Mann rounded the keeper and ran the ball into the net.
The second half was dominated by the hosts but it took until late on for captain Ffion Morgan to secure the result with a craftily curled effort which beat the keeper at her near post.
The visitors hit back with a well-struck effort that gave Fairclough no chance.
The hosts hit back however when Mann picked up the ball on the edge opf the box and fired accurately into the corner.
The win means Ammanford go into next week’s final Welsh Cup group fixture needing a win to go level with Dafen on points.
