Llanelli and District Bowls League
Cwmamman 72 Parc Howard 79
After winning their opening league fixture last week, Cwmamman came back down to earth and suffered a bad day at the office against visiting Parc Howard on a tricky Garnant Park green which was at least playable following its recent drainage problems.
With the luxury of a full team to select from, the hosts set out their stall well enough and after the opening 15 ends things remained pretty even with Cwm leading in two of the rinks.
John Jones’ four were up 16-9 while Byron Davies’ rink led 16-5 at the three-quarter mark, but the latter rink failed to add a single shot to their tally on the home straight and were ultimately overhauled.
James Davies’ four also lost out on the last three ends.
Rink scores:
Rink Three: Lynne Bray, David Mills, Gareth Williams, Dyfed Lewis (skip) 15; Parc Howard 26.
Rink Four: Tony Bray, Alec Leslie, Peter Lees, John Sam Jones (skip) 24; Parc Howard 11.
Rink Five: John Milbourne, Matthew Edwards, Alan Thomas, James Davies (skip) 17; Parc Howard 24.
Rink Six: Norman Raeburn, Simon Hawker, Alun Morris, Byron Davies (skip) 16; Parc Howard 18.
Cwmamman earned two league points from their solitary rink victory.
On Saturday, they travel to Wheatsheaf in hope of a return to winning ways.
