Llandovery 6 Bancffosfelen 2
Llandovery climbed off the bottom of the Carmarthenshire U14s league with a massive 6-2 victory against Bancffosfelen – the side just above them at the foot of the table - at Castle Fields.
Llandovery started brightly and stretched the visitors’ defence with a series of probing runs from Jimmy Waters and Connor Davies.
Sustained pressure led to Llandovery’s first goal from captain Liam Jones who fired home from six yards.
Banc battled gamely and tried to get back into the game, but left themselves exposed to the counter as Llandovery left winger Jimmy Waters powered home from outside the area.
The goal spurred Bancffosfelen into action and the visitors pulled one back with a solid strike from 12 yards.
Llandovery were in control however and fired home three before the break courtesy of Osian Nicholas and two from striker Rhys Kelly.
The second half was a tamer affair, as both sides tired on a warm day.
Banc fought hard to get themselves back into the game and scored a second, but the game was put beyond their reach in the final quarter as Kelly completed his hat-trick.
The win ensured Llandovery leap-frogged their visitors off the bottom although Banc have a game in hand.
