Two storey side extension in Hendy (reference: PL/06550. Consultation deadline: October 12)

Refurbishment of fireplace, Llandovery (reference: PL/O6528. Consultation deadline: October 18)

Plans to refurbish the fireplace in the School House in Rhiandirmwyn, Llandovery have been submitted to the council by Cellan Hughes.

It is a Grade II listed building and so the work – which would involve refurbishing the living room fireplace, installing a wood burning stove and carrying out associated works, needs listed building consent.

The building was listed for being a good example of a Victorian school and school house, which was built around 1858-60, with alterations to the windows in 1894. The school closed in 1969.

The plans would see the sensitive refurbishment of the original fireplace in the living room, with the reinstation of traditional surround and making good to wall finished in lime plaster, and reinstating skirtings and ‘quirk’ detail where it is missing.

There would be an installation of a new wood burning stove with associated flue, liner, register plate and cowl.

Residential extension, Pontyberem (reference: PL/06305. Consultation deadline: October 12)

Plans to build an extension to a property on Sylen Road, Pontyberem, have been submitted to the council by Catherine Brown.

The plans will involve a two-storey extension with smooth rendered walls above rendered plinth and natural slate roof tiles.
