A NUMBER of planning applications for new individual homes have been submitted to Carmarthenshire County Council.

Local need dwelling, Llandybie (reference: PL/06529. Consultation deadline: October 2)

Plans to build a ‘local need dwelling’ on land at Old Hunt Kennels, Milo, Llandybie, have been submitted to the council.

The plans were submitted by Jake Randall and are a resubmission of a plan that was given full refusal on October 18, 2022.

The plans would see the home built on a 0.10-hectare piece of land which is currently used for agricultural purposes.

The walls would be made of smooth render, stonework and timber cladding, with the roof made from flat profiled grey slates or tiles.

It would be a single residential dwelling, with vehicular access, turning and parking area.

It was initially refused due to being located outside of a defined settlement and that only exceptional circumstances such as local need dwellings would be approved, with the council saying that the development is not directly adjacent to the development limits and would not be a logical extension, and insufficient information was submitted to demonstrate the applicant met the local need criteria.

There was a second reason for refusal, stating that insufficient information was provided to demonstrate the necessary visibility splays can be provided and maintained to secure highway safety and ease of movement.

The applicants are now living at the Old Kennels site due to affordability, and the plot of land will be given to the applicants by the owners if planning permission is approved, to allow the family to build a four-bedroom home.

New two-storey home, Tumble (reference: PL/06563. Consultation deadline: October 13)

Plans to build a two-storey home in Ravelston Court, Tumble, have been submitted to the council by Mr and Mrs Roberts.

The plans are to build a new two-storey home on 395 square metres of land which is currently a building plot as part of a housing site.

The plans would see the walls made from smooth white render with a blue facing brick plinths and partly light coloured coursed stonework, the roof made of manmade slates in blue or black, anthracite grey UPVC windows and doors, a 1.8m feather-edged fence as boundary and grassed grids for vehicle access and hard standing.

One Planet Development, Llandeilo (reference: PL/06362. Consultation deadline: October 2)

Plans for a One Planet Development in Llansawel, Llandeilo, have been submitted to the council.

The plans were submitted by resident Rhys Green, for land called Bryn Agored on Sunny Bank Farm, which is where he currently resides with his parents and works in the community providing training courses and as a local councillor.

The plans would see a single residential dwelling built on the land separate to the existing home, which would be on agricultural land which is currently being farmed by the applicant in an attempt to bring the land back into proper use but he feels he has reached an impasse.

The home would be made of wooden walls; metal slate grey roof with solar panels, wooden doors and double glazed windows.

The applicant states that the one planet development requirements are something that he feels he can achieve on the land. He is currently working towards it with apple trees which were planted in 2021, and will expand to other fruits and vegetables, honey and eggs.
