Police are searching for a driver who knocked down a mechanic in a hit-and-run crash as he repaired a vehicle at the roadside.
The 39-year-old man was taken to hospital but was later released with no serious injuries following the incident on the A75 near Castle Douglas in Dumfries and Galloway at around 9.30pm on Tuesday.
The recovery worker was assisting a broken down vehicle when he was struck by a white van travelling east.
Police said he was knocked to the ground but the van failed to stop.
Constable Lee-Ann Hawker said: “This man has had a very lucky escape in this incident. I am appealing to anyone who may have been on the A75 around the area to call us if they can assist in identifying the vehicle or driver of the white coloured box van.
“The lorry which was being used in the recovery of the car was also slightly damaged in the collision. Callers can contact police on the 101 number and should quote the reference number 3956 13/11.”
