NINETEEN new homes could be built around the Capel Hendre area if a planning application is successful.

The application was submitted by Castell Group and would see 19 homes built on land off Bryn Dreinog, Capel Hendre.

It will be on a 0.65-hectare site, with the vast majority of the site being vacant land. 0.60 hectares is greenfield land, with 0.05 hectares as already developed land. The entrance to the development would be through the Bryn Dreinog housing estate, which consists of 39 properties.

In the new development, it is proposed that there be eight one-bed flats, nine two-bed homes and two four-bed homes and a total of 32 parking spaces. At least 10 per cent of the homes will be under the affordable housing banner.

There will be boundary treatments which will consist of a 1.8m high close boarded timber fence, 1.8m high brick screen wall with brick pliers. There will also be a road, footpath and private drive to be finished in tarmac and the private footpaths and patios will be finished with concrete paving slabs.

It is the third application to be put through relating to the site, with the previous two in 2015 and 2021 not proceeded with.

A number of responses have already been provided to the planning application, including from residents of the Bryn Dreinog estate who object to the proposals with concerns of road safety, with the road being narrow and pavement parking already an issue without the addition of further cars which would come with the new homes.

There have also been concerns raised about blockages in the sewer systems over the last few years and concerns on the impact of further homes connecting to the sewer system.

The plans can be seen in full at www.carmarthenshire.gov.wales/planningapplications and searching for the reference PL/06641. Any comments relating to the application can be made via the above link, by emailing planningconsultations@carmarthenshire.gov.uk or by writing to Planning Services, Civic Offices, Crescent Road, Llandeilo, SA19 6HW. If using the latter two ways, the reference number must be included in the representation and representations must be received by November 8.

There is also a plan for a new home in Ammanford. The plan was submitted by Richard Safadi for one new home to be built on land adjacent to 98 Penybanc Road, Ammanford.

It would be a detached home on a 324 square metre site which is currently a vacant plot of land.

The walls will be made of brick and render with a slate or flat tile roof. The windows and doors will be made of coloured UPVC. The boundary treatments will include timber fencing and brickwork walls with a tarmac and gravel stone drive.
