Dafen Welfare 1 Cwmamman United 4

Cwmamman United followed up their opening league victory with an excellent 4-1 away win at Dafen Welfare, with striker Elliott Smith again in great form as he scored a very well-taken hat-trick.

Cwm set their team up to attack from the start and had two great opportunities within the first 5 minutes, but Dafen’s keeper Ryan Blakeway produced two great saves.

Cwm were then stunned as Dafen’s first attack saw a great through ball and a strong run from Alex Kay saw him stroke the ball wide of Max Riley to open the scoring.

The game then took shape with Cwm launching many attacks originating from David Brown and Charlie Davies at the back and the the pace of wing back Nathan Wickham was causing the Dafen defence a major headache.

Cwm had the edge in midfield with Mason Davies, Sean Howells and Nikki Parvin linking well and just when it looked as if Dafen would hold out to half-time Charlie Davies equalised in the 42nd minute with a strong header from a Cwm corner.

Now with Harrison Thomas and Olly Dymond feeding neat balls through to Smith and Jackson Brereton it was only a matter of time and Smith pounced on a through ball in the 53rd minute to give Cwm the lead.

There was then a 10 minute period where Cwm were pinned back in their half with the dangerous Dafen strikers making the defence work hard.

Cwm looked to be moving towards a one goal win when Smith scored his second in the 84th min with a great individual goal.

He went one better in the 88th minute as he finished a good Cwm team move to secure his hat-trick.

Cwm thought they had scored again in the final minute as Sean Howells finished another great team move but it was called back for a tight offside.
