This was followed by two match-defining partnerships involving Glamorgan's Billy Root. The first was worth 80 with Josef Davies (42), whilst the second of 85 was with debutant Fraser Benjamin (31).

Root went on to a fine hundred before being bowled by Adam Sylvester.

Port Talbot responded efficiently with their own opening stand of 63 between Liam Davies (38) and Mark Cox (18), but once skipper Joseph Voke (25) and Cian Davies (42) had been dismissed, the writing was on the wall for the home team.

For Ammanford, man of the match Billy Root capped a fine performance with 4-31.
