JD Cymru South league game. 

Ammanford AFC followed up their away win at Undy FC last Saturday with another win on the road at the Marston Stadium ,the home of Afan Lido FC this evening (Tuesday 24/08/2021).

Ammanford AFC having scored eight goals in the last game got this game off to the perfect start when Ammanford’s Osian Dillon got the final touch in a goal mouth scramble in the Lido area to give his team an early lead with only two minutes played.

However this game was a keenly fought contest with Lido pressing their visitors at every opportunity earning a few yellow cards in the process.

Ammanford’s midfielder Kai Whitmore battled in the midfield and forwards Tristan Jenkins and Lee Trundle went close to adding to Ammanford’s early lead.

As the first half progressed Lido tried to get themselves back on level terms and pressed hard to get the breakthrough but were met with stubborn defensive play from Ammanford.

Lido went in at half time with a one goal deficit to make up in the second half.

Half Time 0-1

The second half proved to be a scrappy affair with Ammanford batting to hold onto their goal advantage. Ammanford’s goalkeeper Jamie Rano was making some fine saves to keep the home team at bay.

After 79 minutes played , Lido’s Jordan Edwards picked up a second yellow card and subsequent red.

Lido despite being down to ten men still pushed forward looking for the elusive equaliser.

Within two minutes of being down to ten Lido were awarded a penalty.

Up stepped Lido’s Jay Thomas who saw his penalty kick saved by the outstanding Rano.

As hard as Lido tried they could not force an equaliser.

Deep into stoppage time Lido’s Jackson Hall received a red card which left Lido down to nine men.

At the final whistle it was Ammanford AFC who had ground out the away win.

Jamie Rano Ammanford’s goalkeeper was in fine form and deserving of Ammanford’s man of the match for his saves.

Ammanford AFC play Cwmbran Celtic this Friday at the Recreation Ground.
