A consultation into dog breeding in Carmarthenshire has been launched.

The objective of the consultation is to gather the opinions of residents and key contributors regarding the dog breeding licensing function.

The council's place, sustainability and climate change scrutiny committee is behind this effort.

Its task and finish group is undertaking the review of the consumer and business affairs animal health team's dog breeding licensing role.

Key parameters of evaluation include the robustness, consistency, coordination, measurability and value for money of current service provisions.

The focus is also on identifying potential enhancement areas.

The consultation will be open until May 15, 2024 and can be found on the council's website.

All feedback gathered will be used by the scrutiny task and finish group in their study.

Their findings and recommendations will be part of a final report due for review by the place, sustainability and climate change scrutiny committee later this year.
