HERE are some planning applications from County Durham and North Yorkshire you may have missed this week.

First, there is the plan for 71 homes on former steelworks land in Consett.

The Northern Echo:

The application site is located on former Consett Steel Works developed land which, like the other phases of Regents Park, will be required to undergo advanced reclamation to make it suitable for development.

The Project Genesis Trust was formed in 1994 as a registered charity to regenerate the site of the former Consett Steel Works and reinvest the funds from the development in the provision of environmental, recreational and social benefits to local people.

Next, a property in Darlington which is being converted into a five-flat house of multiple occupancy.

The Northern Echo:

Plans have been submitted to Darlington Borough Council to convert a house into five apartments with the addition of two rooflights to the rear, a single storey extension, and provision of cycle store to rear at 50 Grange Road, Blackwell, Darlington.

The building is a four-storey domestic premises of traditional brick construction incorporating decorative stone façade detailing, built around 1870.

The basement comprises an entrance hall, leading to two large rooms with a WC to the rear.

The ground floor has an entrance hall, large lounge to the front of the property with a large kitchen to the rear.

The rear of the building has two external stores with a garage.

On the first floor there are two bedrooms, with the master to the front of the property, including dressing room, and WC and bathroom to the rear.

In County Durham, plans have been submitted to build an eco holiday lodge.

The Northern Echo:

The application site, Humble Burn Cottage, Humbleburn Lane, lies to the northwest of the village of Edmondsley, County Durham.

The application site currently consists of a grassed area and planting/vegetation areas with timber outbuildings around the existing pond.

The site was granted planning permission in 2009, and subsequently renewed in 2012, for the erection of a holiday cottage. An application was approved to the north of the pond in 2014 to relocate the holiday cottage. None of these of applications were implemented.

Finally, a multi-faith centre is planned for a Durham cricket ground.

Plans for a multi-faith prayer room, at Durham County Cricket Club, Chester-le-Street, have been submitted to Durham County Council.

The England and Wales Cricket Board has committed to install multi-faith prayer rooms at every county cricket ground before the start of the 2024 season.

The site proposed for the multi-faith room is next to the current media centre and behind one of the southern stands in an unused gravel space.

The proposed multi-faith room is fully accessible for wheelchair users and has an accessible WC space.

The existing gravelled surface surrounding the site will be tarmacked to allow for easy and level access to the ramps with existing curbs sufficient for wheelchair use.
