A road in the Amman Valley will be closed for approximately three weeks.

The A4069 Amman Road in Lower Brynamman will be closed temporarily in April.

Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council has announced this necessity to prohibit vehicles from driving over a 250-metre stretch of the road, from its junction with Glyn Road heading north.

This information was confirmed under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

This Public Notice reveals that the closure will enable the National Coal Board/Shillibbers Ltd to undertake crucial civil engineering works in and adjacent to the highway, as well as the Highway Authority to perform subsequent works in the road.

The closure takes effect from April 2, 2024, and is expected to take around three weeks, although the order is set to last for 18 months, as a back up in case the works need to take longer or need to be moved to a different date.

Vehicular traffic will be redirected through the unaffected sections of the A4069, A4068, A4067, and A474.

Road users are urged to plan ahead and consider potential delays during this forthcoming period of vital works.
