Charity Sue Ladd and Friends donates £7,000 to local causes

The money, raised by the Sue Ladd and Friends local breast cancer charity, was distributed at their annual presentation evening on February 29 in Penybanc RFC Clubhouse.

This year is a milestone for Sue and her team as it's 20 years since Sue's own breast cancer diagnosis.

In 2004, post-treatment, Sue turned to charity work.

The Pink Ribbon Race was established, an annual summer event where teams dress in pink attire for breast cancer charity fundraising.

After 17 Pink Ribbon Races, enabled by local volunteers and the Amman Valley communities, £275,000 has been raised to date.

Funds were donated to a variety of causes, including the Oncology and Urology Units at Llanelli's Prince Philip Hospital, Blas the Ammanford Life After Stroke club, Shadows Depression Support, and Yr Enfys special unit at Ysgol Bro Banw.

Also, financial assistance for treatment travel and accommodation was given to several residents managing illnesses or disabilities.

The upcoming Pink Ribbon Race is on June 29 at 1pm.
