PEOPLE in Llandeilo are invited to celebrate French and Welsh culture at a cheese and wine evening.

Llandeilo is twinned with the seaside town Le Conquet in Brittany and has been since 1979. Each year, a number of events are held in both towns to celebrate this relationship, including cultural events and visits across the channel.

The Llandeilo Town Twinning Association is set to host a special cheese and wine evening in February and is inviting anyone who would like to attend to do so.

Linda Dougal, chairwoman of the association, said: “We are holding the event to raise awareness of Llandeilo’s long-standing relationship with the beautiful seaside town/fishing port of Le Conquet in Brittany.

“The association was formed in 1979, has continued ever since, and has resulted in many lifelong friendships.”

At the event, there will be Welsh, French and Bretagne music from Dan Morris and Claudine Le Corre.

Committee member – and Llandeilo mayor – Christoph Fischer said: “There will be a blend of Welsh, French and Bretagne music provided by Llandeilo based Welsh-Bretagne couple Dan Morris and Claudine Le Corre.”

The association’s social secretary Brenda Vautier added: “It’s going to be an informal celebration of the cultural exchange and a fun night. Why not join the gathering and the warm and welcoming community event.”

The wine and cheese evening will be held at St Teilo’s Church, Llandeilo between 7pm and 9pm on Thursday, February 15.
