TWO renowned funeral directors have joined forces to provide their services across a wider community.

Gareth Morgan – who spent almost 40 years working at his father’s funeral directors business Keith Morgan and Sons in Glanamman – has now left the business that was previously owned by his family and has begun to work part time with Ammanford-based D Wynne Evans and Sons Ltd.

Mr Morgan began working at Keith Morgan and Sons straight after finishing school at around 16/17 and continued to work at the firm for 18 years after his father sold the business but believed that now was the right time to step back from the business and work part time.

“There’s no bad feelings,” said Mr Morgan. “It was time for a change. I left school and went to work for my father at 16/17 so I have been in the business for a long time. I have been doing it for about 39 years.

“I have cut my hours down and wanted to work four days a week and make some time for myself. I didn’t want to work full time so it’s like a semi retirement.”

D Wynne Evans and Sons is now run by Dylan Evans, who took over from his father David and like Mr Morgan, began working for his father’s company after leaving school.

“We have been a family run business for over 60 years, serving the communities of Llandybie, Penygroes, Ammanford and surrounding areas,” said Mr Evans. “I came to work for my father and have only worked here and have been in the business for around 40 years.

“Between the two of us we have a fair bit of experience,” Mr Evans said.

D Wynne Evans and Sons prides themselves on providing funerals catered to the individual’s needs in the Llandybie, Ammanford, Penygroes and surrounding areas. Mr Morgan will be adding to this, providing services in the communities in Glanamman and the Amman Valley.
