BIN collections in Carmarthenshire will take place two days later than usual over the Christmas period.

Carmarthenshire County Council has revealed the dates that bin collections will take place over Christmas and New Year.

Collections that are due to be collected on Monday, December 25 will now take place on Wednesday, December 27. Any due to be picked up on Tuesday, December 26, will now be collected on Thursday, December 28, with Wednesday, December 27’s being picked up on Friday, December 29.

Collections usually done on a Thursday will not be picked up on December 28, but will be instead collected on Saturday, December 30, and collections due on Friday, December 29, will be picked up on Sunday, December 31.

For the week beginning Monday, January 1, collections will take place one day later than usual. So the Monday collection will now be picked up on Tuesday, January 2, with those usually collected on Tuesday, January 2 being picked up on Wednesday, January 3.

Collections due to be picked up on Wednesday, January 3, will be picked up on Thursday, January 4, with that date’s usual collection being picked up on Friday, January 5, and Friday’s normal collection will be picked up on Saturday, January 6.

Collections will return to the normal dates for the week after.

All residents are asked to ensure their bins are out by 6am on the collection day and to remember the three black bag limit and have been asked to recycle as much as possible.

All recycling centres in the county will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day. They will be open on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve but will close at 12midday on both dates.

The council also reminds residents that they can take their real Christmas trees to either of their Wernddu (Ammanford), Trostre (Llanelli), Nantycaws (Carmarthen) or Whitland recycling centres in January and get a free bag of Merlin’s Magic Compost.
