CARMARTHENSHIRE County Council is calling for final donations to its annual Christmas toybox appeal.

The council has gratefully received a number of donations from communities across the county, and volunteers have been busy collecting toys from the various collection points ready to give to children in need.

Ysgol Llangennech’s pupils have also been helping to get presents to give to families who can’t afford to buy toys or gifts this festive season.

Last year, the appeal gave 9,900 gifts to 1,650 children across the county and this year, people wishing to help can either give a gift or a financial donation. The gifts must be new and can be anything from games and arts and crafts items to toiletry gift sets for all ages from 18 months up to teenagers.

Cllr Linda Evans, the cabinet member responsible for the appeal, said: “The support we have received, once again this year, from residents, businesses and organisations across the county has been incredible. If you are able to donate to this excellent cause, we kingly ask that you buy an extra gift or to make a donation no matter how big or small, that it will make a huge difference to the hundreds of children across the county who will receive a gift on Christmas Day.”
