AN appeal that will help those struggling to afford food in Ammanford has been launched.

The Country Food Trust has launched its fifth winter appeal to raise the vital funds to help ensure that people struggling financially can have nutritious protein-rich meals during the challenging winter months.

The trust supports a few organisations in Wales including Ammanford Foodbank, Canolfan Maerdy, Caerphilly Foodbank and Wrexham Foodbank.

The Country Food Trust – a registered charity – is committed to alleviate the cost-of-living crisis’ effect on people’s health by ensuring that they are able to have nutritious meals.

CEO SJ Hunt said: “There is unlimited demand for our high protein ambient meals. Every pound donated through the winter appeal goes towards producing and distributing these fantastic meals to help feed people in need. Your generosity will make a difference to those facing food insecurity.”

Adam Henson, patron for The Country Food Trust, said: “More people than ever are living in food insecurity and on behalf of the CFT, I urge people to please give generously this winter as we look to distribute as many meals as possible.”

Protein is one of the most important food groups for human health but it is also the most expensive, which means people struggling financially often reduces their intake of this food first.
