A DANCE performance inspired by folklore will be coming to Ystradgynlais this week.

Award-winning dance company James Wilton Dance will be bringing LORE to Ystradgynlais on Friday, December 1.

The production is a folklore-inspired journey into a pagan world of gods, demons and humans, embodied through otherworldly athleticism.

The production blends acrobatics, capoeira and dance and aims to connect to nature and make audiences feel the energy that flows from the ground, through our bodies and back into the earth.

Lore features a specially composed soundtrack by Michal Wojtas, who drew influence from Viking, Celtic and Slavic folk music and it is like listening to the tales of ancestors told while sat in a clearing in the woods, and hearing ancient stories that bind humanity together.

The set has been designed by company founders Jane and Sarah.

The company will be returning to Ystradgynlais’ The Welfare after impressing in 2019 with their Moby Dick inspired piece called Leviathan.

LORE will be at The Welfare, Ystradgynlais, on Friday, December 1. Tickets are available to buy in person, at www.thewelfare.co.uk or by calling 01639 843163.
