PLANS to change the use of a building in Llandybie have been approved by the council.

Garland and Lewis submitted an application to Carmarthenshire County Council for the change of use of 4 Rawlings Road, Llandybie, from printers to mixed use retail, office and storage.

The application is part retrospective as work began on January 3, 2022. There are currently four full-time employees, and the development would see this increase to eight according to the application.

The retail would be hair/beauty/nail salons and the hair salon recently opened due to high demand.

Some of the work has been started internally, with some general refurbishment and improvement works with the only planned external alteration is the installation of three steel roller shutter doors.

On October 25, the council approved the plans with the condition that the work is carried out in line with the approved plans and did begin on January 3, 2022, and the part of the plans for the salon is to be used as a salon and is to only open within the hours of 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays and public holidays.

Another condition is the part approved for B1 use shall only be open between 7am and 8pm Monday to Saturday and 10am and 4pm on Sundays and public holidays and the part approved for B8 use shall only be open between 7am and 10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am and 5pm on Sundays and public holidays.

Another condition is that no deliveries are to take place or be dispatched from the premises between 9pm and 8am Monday to Saturday and not at all on Sunday or public holidays. The final conditions relate to noise and that noise must be kept to the level of existing background noise and within a month must carry out and submit a noise assessment.
