THE Christmas lights switch on in Ammanford will take place on Saturday, November 25.

Prior to this, All Saints Church will be celebrating the weekend at St Michael’s Church, Wind Street from 10am to 12midday on Friday, November 24, and from 4pm on Saturday, November 25. There will be mince pies, mulled wine, tea, coffee and stalls.

On Saturday, November 25, the festivities for the switch on will start at 4pm with host Gareth Morris opening the event on stage outside Home Bargains on Quay Street, welcoming Santa who has taken time out of his busy schedule to make a visit to the grotto.

The grotto will be open from 4.15pm until 6.30pm inside the Menter Dinefwr shop Cyfoes on Quay Street. At 4.10pm, Crazy Clayton will provide entertainment for his first Christmas show before the Christmas tunes begin at 4.50pm as Rhys Morgan takes to the stage to perform.

Crazy Clayton will return to the stage at 5.25pm for his second Christmas show before the action moves to the Christmas tree on the Square at 5.55pm, where Cor Tybie and Ammanford Silver Band sing carols around the tree.

The big event – the switching on of the Christmas lights – will take place at 6.30pm, with local band P’tchaeow performing to lead up to the 7pm fireworks, before returning to the stage to close the show at 7.30pm.
