CARMARTHENSHIRE’S biggest festive event will be taking place in Aberglasney Gardens in December.

The gardens will be transformed into a Christmas paradise for the annual winter fair at the start of December.

There will be festive music and entertainment from male voice choirs, school choirs, folk dancers and ukulele players, and a number of stalls where Christmas gifts can be bought as well as local artisan food and drink producers. Guests will be given a complimentary glass of mulled wine and a mince pie on entry.

There will be stalls with unique gifts, handmade decorations, art and homeware, one-off pieces of jewellery and fashionable winter wear.

Santa will also be taking time out of his busy schedule to appear at the festival in his grotto! Every child that visits him will receive a gift and Santa is happy to talk in either English and Welsh. Proceeds from Santa’s grotto will go Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital. There will also be a festive trail around the gardens for children to find the clues.

There will also be a food marquee with festive treats including chocolate, festive spirits and Welsh cheese. There will also be a number of ‘on the go’ food and drink outlets.

Jim Stribling, director of operations at Aberglasney, said: “Aberglasney’s winter fair is the perfect start to the festive season. The gardens and mansion will be transformed into a winter wonderland. We’re delighted to be able to offer visitors the opportunity to do all their Christmas shopping whilst enjoying the festive atmosphere in these beautiful surroundings.”

The winter fair will be held at Aberglasney Gardens on December 1-3 from 10am until 4.30pm each day. Entry costs £10 per person but there is no separate entrance fee to the gardens and visitors will be able to enjoy a walk around the gardens during the visit.

Aberglasney members will be able to visit the winter fair for free as part of their annual membership package.

A free park and ride service is available on each day. On Friday, December 1, the buses will run from Cae William Llandeilo RFC ground and on Saturday, December 2, and Sunday, December 3, the buses will run from Gelli Aur College Farm as in previous years.
