THIS coming weekend, Armed Forces veterans, serving personnel, their families and members of the public join together to mark Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday to remember those who fought and lost their lives in past conflicts.

Across Carmarthenshire and the Neath Port Talbot areas, a number of events will be taking place to mark Armistice Day on November 11 and Remembrance Sunday on November 12. Here we detail those events that are taking place.

Saturday, November 11

Ammanford

All Saints Church will open from 10am for visitors to view the memorial board and artefacts on display as well as the church tower which is recognised by the Imperial War Museum as a First World War memorial. There will be a short service of remembrance at 11am led by Bishop-elect Dorrien Davies. There will be a performance at 7pm at the church by Côr Persain Ladies Choir, Ammanford Silver Band and Côr Ysgol Bro Banw and a tribute by Ammanford British Legion. Tickets cost £8.

Betws

There will be a service at Betws Park with everyone to meet at 10.3am for a 10.45am start.

Garnant

There will be a wreath laying ceremony at the memorial at Parc Golwg yr Aman at 11am.

Sunday, November 12

Ammanford

There will be a wreath laying service at the park gates. The parade will be forming at 10.15am before gathering at the gates at 10.30am with the service itself starting at 10.55am for a two-minute silence at 11am and the laying of wreaths to begin at 11.05am. There will be a service at All Saints Church following the wreath laying.

Garnant

There will be a Remembrance Sunday service at the memorial at Ysgol y Bedol, Garnant at 10.45am. There will be a service at Christ Church, Twyn to follow.

Cwmgors

There will be a remembrance day service at Llanfair Church, Cwmgors following the laying of wreaths at the memorial in Gwaun Cae Gurwen on the junction towards Tairgwaith at 10.45am.

Penygroes

The annual remembrance service will be held at 12noon in the Memorial Hall, Penygroes.

Llandeilo

The parade will leave Penlan Park at 10.30am and will march to St Teilo Church for the remembrance service.

Pontardawe

There will be a service of remembrance at the War Memorial from 10.30am, which will be followed by the laying of wreaths.

Llandovery

The parade will meet at Town Hall at 10.15am, forming up at 10.30am and proceeding down Broad Street to the War Memorial for the start of the service.

Cross Hands and Tumble

There will be a service at Tumble Memorial Garden at 10.55am and a service at Cross Hands Memorial Garden at 1.55pm.
