BRYNAMMAN’S Jac Morgan will captain Wales in a showpiece friendly against the prestigious Barbarians side this weekend.

The 23-year-old will lead a Welsh team which will see fullback Leigh Halfpenny make his final appearance in a Wales jersey – however, he will not be adding to his 101 caps for his country because this is an uncapped match.

Pontyberem’s Kieran Hardy is also set to feature as he has been named as the replacement scrum half and former Llandovery College pupil Harri O’Connor could make his first appearance for the senior Wales side if he comes off the bench.

Meanwhile, Alltwen’s Justin Tipuric will be facing off against his Welsh teammates as he and Alun Wyn Jones will start for the Barbarians invitational side. Both players will be making their final international appearances having announced their retirement from international rugby earlier this year.

They are the only Welsh players to be included in the invitational side which is mainly made up of player from Australia, Fiji and New Zealand.

Wales head coach Warren Gatland said: “Playing a Barbarians side filled with quality players is a good challenge for this group and a chance for players to put their hands up and show what they are about.

“It’ll be the last game in a Wales jersey for Leigh Halfpenny but also a chance for fans to see and celebrate Alun Wyn Jones and Justin Tipuric playing international rugby one last time.

“We’re looking forward to getting back out in front of a home crowd on Saturday.”
