VOLUNTEERS helping to support Armed Forces veterans and serving personnel have been praised for their work.

Carmarthen East and Dinefwr MP Jonathan Edwards visited the Coop in Llandeilo to see the work of the Llandeilo branch of the Royal British Legion and commended them for their fundraising efforts during the annual poppy appeal.

Mr Edwards was joined by county councillor Edward Thomas.

Mr Thomas said: “Llandeilo branch of RBL is a small team and calls upon local volunteers to help. We distribute 40 boxes around the area.”

Mr Edwards said: “It was an honour to visit Llandeilo and chat to Royal British Legion volunteers about this year’s campaign and to hear about their tireless work supporting veterans.

“Every year the poppy appeal raises vital funds for veterans and their families and spreads the message of the horrors of war. I would like to thank every volunteer for their contribution to this worthy cause.”

Mr Thomas added: “It was great to see Jonathan our local MP take time out of his busy schedule to call in at Coop Llandeilo to support the fundraising efforts of RBL Llandeilo and the annual poppy collection.

“Jonathan has been a supporter of RBL and regularly attends Remembrance parades and services.”
