BRYNAMMAN’S Jac Morgan will captain Wales against the Barbarians in Cardiff next month.

Following Wales’ exit from the Rugby World Cup after defeat to Argentina in the quarter finals, Wales now turns to preparations for their match against the prestigious BaaBaas.

The game – on Saturday, November 4 at the Principality Stadium, Cardiff – will be an uncapped match, so the players involved will not see an addition to their number of caps.

The 23-man squad will be led by the 23-year-old former Ysgol Dyffryn Aman pupil who received widespread praise for his leadership of the World Cup squad alongside co-captain Dewi Lake.

Jac will be joined in the squad for the Barbarians fixture by 15 fellow players who were in the Rugby World Cup squad including Pontyberem’s Kieran Hardy who was called up to the World Cup squad ahead of the quarter final match as injury cover but did not feature.

The squad returned from France on Monday, October 16 and will begin preparations for the Barbarians at the Welsh Rugby Union National Centre of Excellence in Hensol on Monday, October 30.

Head coach Warren Gatland said: “For this match we have a good mix of players who were part of the Rugby World Cup squad and some other players that we have worked with previously.

“We’ve decided to go with a smaller squad than usual to prepare for the game because we wanted to help the regions as much as we can by not taking too many of their players away.

“There are no English, French or Japanese club-based players included as they are not available for this fixture.

“Our next World Cup cycle starts now. When you look at the potential of the players we have coming through it’s exciting.

“We can be really excited about what we can achieve over the next four years, and I look forward to working with these players and seeing them develop and grow.”
