HEAVY rain is expected in parts of Carmarthenshire and Neath Port Talbot overnight tonight after the Met Office issued another yellow weather warning.

There was a yellow weather warning in place yesterday for heavy winds across the whole of Wales, which ended at 7am this morning – Thursday, September 28 – but now a new warning has been issued for heavy rain for parts of Wales.

The warning – which will come into force from 8pm today and will last until 2am tomorrow, Friday, September 29 – covers south Wales including Ammanford, Llandeilo, Pontardawe, Ystradgynlais and the Amman Valley.

The forecast states that for the Carmarthenshire and Neath Port Talbot areas, there is a 90 per cent chance of heavy rain during the hours the warning is in place.

The weather warning comes just a week after the rivers Amman, Towy, Bran and Loughor were swollen after heavy rain, with the latter two bursting their banks. At the time of writing, flood alerts have been issued by NRW for the rivers.

The warning states that spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and maybe a few road closures, a chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services where flooding does occur. The warning also includes a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings and that there is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater.
