AN 88-YEAR-OLD has been charged with careless driving after their reckless overtake of a cyclist was caught on camera.
Olwen Fleming, of Gwynfe, near Llangadog, was driving a Mazda 2 TS2 on the A4069 heading towards the Black Mountain Road on March 4.
Fleming approached a cyclist “on a clear and well-sighted road”, Llanelli Magistrates’ Court heard.

As she overtook the cyclist, she did not leave sufficient room, the court was told.
The manoeuvre was caught on the cyclist’s rear camera, which showed the standard of Fleming’s driving “fell well below that of a reasonable and competent driver” and that she was “driving without reasonable consideration for other persons using that road”.
She pleaded guilty on September 6, and was fined £40.
Fleming must also pay £110 in costs and a £16 surcharge, and was handed three penalty points.
