FIRE crews were called to a gas tank incident in Pontarddulais earlier today (14 August).
Crews from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called to Garnswllt Road in Pontarddulais at 7.48am this morning – Monday, August 14.
On arrival, crews from Ammanford and Pontarddulais found that a large propane tank had been damaged by a fallen tree and as a result, was releasing gas.
The fire crews put a 100-metre cordon in place and neighbours were evacuated as a gas engineer isolated the propane tank and made it safe.
The cordon was removed just over two hours later as those who had been evacuated were able to return to their properties.
Fire crews left at 10.07am, leaving the incident with the gas engineer.
