A WORLD-FAMOUS military band will be in Cardiff for the first time next month.

The Massed Bands of His Majesty’s Royal Marines will be stopping in Cardiff on their first ever band tour.

The band will feature the beloved Corps of Drums and will showcase outstanding musicianship and versatility of the bands.

The concert is in aid of Royal Navie and Royal Marines Charities and will be on the scale of performances only seen at the Massed Bands’ annual performances at the Mountbatten Festival of Music at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

There will be more than 70 musicians taking part from the Plymouth and Portsmouth Royal Marines Bands with buglers and the Royal Marines Corps of Drums and singers from the Music Man project, with many having featured in the coronation procession and concert earlier this year.

The tour will provide a poignant end for Lieutenant Colonel Jase Burcham RM, the principal director of music, and Warrant Officer 1 Ivan Hutchinson RM, the corps bandmaster, who will both be retiring from the Royal Marines following the tour. Between them, they have a total of 70 years of service.

The Massed Bands of His Majesty’s Royal Marines will be in St David’s Hall on Thursday, September 14. Tickets are available at Events from 13 December – 28 September › RM Massed Bands Concert › – www.royalmarinesbands.co.uk
