AS well as celebrating local traditions, an upcoming Towy Valley festival will also celebrate local food and drink products.

The Llandovery Sheep Festival returns in September with something for everyone. Not only will there be rural crafts and entertainment and celebrations of the old drovers’ trails, sheep farming and the wool industry, but there will be more than 30 stalls of locally produced food and drink.

These range from goat and sheep cheeses and homemade cheesecakes to various cider producers and honey. The stalls will be in the food marquee and there will also be street vendors, local cafes, pubs and restaurants which will have special festival menus.

Linzi Brown, from Llanwrda, organised the food and drink section after joining the Llandovery Sheep Festival’s committee earlier this year. She has her own experience in making her own peanut butter, which saw her appear on BBC Two’s Top of the Shop with To Kerridge. She now owns Bumblebees wool shop on Market Square, Llandovery with husband Jason.

Linzi said: “As a newly formed team of organisers, we hope this year’s Llandovery Sheep Festival will be a vibrant, community orientated event which will showcase sheep and the wonderful benefits of wool.

“At the same time, we want to offer visitors the best food, drink and crafts in the area. I’d like our visitors to leave feeling they have had a fantastic time and the traders to have enjoyed their weekend.”

There will be around 100 exhibitors showcasing a range of products from the aforementioned food and drink to textiles, arts and crafts. There will also be live music, entertainment, workshops and courses and a climate change forum.

Llandovery Sheep Festival takes place on September 16 and 17 in Llandovery Town Centre. For more information, visit www.llandoverysheepfestival.co.uk
