A ROAD in the Gwendraeth Valley will be closed for three weeks in August.

Carmarthenshire County Council placed a public notice in the South Wales Guardian on July 26 which announced a road closure for the Cross Hands area.

The closure is for part of Heol Parc Mawr and will come into force on August 7 and will last for three weeks or until works on or adjacent to Heol Parc Mawr have been completed.

The closure affects:

  • Heol Parc Mawr from a point approximately 138 metres south-east of the junction with Cross Hands roundabout for a distance of 94 metres in an easterly direction.

During this time, all vehicles are not allowed to use the road, however, pedestrian access and vehicular access to individual properties will be maintained where possible.

There is an alternative route for westbound traffic outlined in the notice:

  • From a point east of the closure, proceed in a south-easterly direction along Heol Parc Mawr passing Happy Home Furniture to its junction with a roundabout. Take the second exit at the roundabout and continue in a general south-westerly direction along Heol Parc Mawr to its junction with the unclassified road known as Heol Stanllyd, being the first junction on the right hand side. Turn right at the junction and travel in a generally north westerly direction along Heol Stanllyd to return to a point west of the closure.

It is vice versa for eastbound traffic.
