A POPULAR Ammanford event will now take place in September.

Ammanford Big Rainbow Day Out was due to be held in the town on Saturday, July 22, but due to the weather that was forecast – which saw heavy rain for the majority of the day – it was postponed.

The event will now take place on Saturday, September 16.

In a statement on Facebook, the organisers said: “We are disappointed to report that after all the planning and organisation and support that has been put into the Big Rainbow Day Out event we are having to make the unenviable decision to postpone due to safety concerns relating to the weather.

“The BDO team haven’t made the decision lightly and the decision has been made in conjunction with the operators of the inflatables and other activities that were due to be in attendance.”

As the event is not cancelled, any tickets bought for the event – such as the £10 ride all day ticket – will be valid for the September 16 date.

Anyone who did purchase a ticket will be contacted by email to explain how a refund process will work should the ticket holder be unable to attend in September and wishes to have a refund.

The statement continued: “We can promise you that nobody is more disappointed than the organisers of the BDO event that this decision has needed to be taken, months of work and planning go into large events like this and we would like to thank our traders, operators, organisers and volunteers for the tremendous support you have shown over the past few days.

“We look forward to welcoming you all back in September and to the members of the public who have been so understanding, unfortunately the British weather is the one thing we are not able to plan in advance, but we know you will be back to support the event as always when it returns on September 16th.”
