THROUGHOUT the decades, the Carmarthenshire area has been visited by a number of members of the royal family, with some even taking up residence in the county.

The now-King Charles III and wife Camilla have had a countryside residence at the Llwynywemod estate in Myddfai just outside of Llandovery.

The couple are known to host events there, but also to visit places across the county alongside their relatives.

Here we take a look back in the South Wales Guardian archive at pictures of the royal family visiting the area.

There are pictures of the late Queen Elizabeth II visiting Llandovery in the 1950s, Queen Camilla being presented with a cake following the birth of Prince George and a number of King Charles’ visits to various parts of the county in his then-role as Prince of Wales.
