A TOUR of a popular musical will be coming to Swansea in July.

Blood Brothers has been a popular show on its touring runs, regularly selling out dates across the UK.

The tour of Bill Kenwright’s smash hit production of the popular Willy Russell play has been on a short break but its new run across the UK began on June 26 and will run until late 2023.

It will be in Swansea and will see Niki Colwell Evans and Sean Jones playing the roles of Mrs Johnstone and Mickey Johnstone respectively. It will also see Gemma Brodrick take on ‘the role of a lifetime’ as she plays Linda in the production.

Gemma has been involved in the production since 2019 and Niki – who first rose to fame on The X Factor in 2007 – is no stranger to Blood Brothers, having plated Mrs Johnstone at the Phoenix Theatre in 2008, 2009 and 2010 as well as in 2022.

Sean Jones reprises his role as Mickey but is no stranger to the stage, having had roles in Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan, Cinderella and much more.

Also in the cast for Blood Brothers is Joe Sleight as Eddie, Danny Whitehead as the narrator, Timothy Lucas as Sammy, Josh Capper as the neighbour, Paula Tappenden as Mrs Lyons, Tim Churchill as Mr Lyons, Jess Smith as Brenda, Tori Hargreaves as Donna Marie/Miss Jones, Connor Bannister as Perkins, Graeme Kinniburgh as Postman/Bus Conductor and Nick Wilkes as Teacher/Policeman.

The play tells the story of life in Liverpool and follows two twins who were separated at birth and grow up on the opposite sides of the tracks, but when they meet again, there is tragic consequences.

Blood Brothers can be seen at Swansea’s Grand Theatre from Tuesday, July 4 to Saturday, July 8.
