A GROUP of dancers from an Ammanford academy will be taking to the stage on one of the UK’s most prestigious venues this weekend.

Ten members of Inspire Arts Academy will be at the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool’s Winter Gardens for the World Freestyle Dance Championships.

Inspire Arts Academy is the only Carmarthenshire-based dance school to attend the championships and students come from the local Amman Valley area, Llanelli, Burry Port and some travel to the academy from Pembrokeshire.

The girls are trained by dance teacher Savannah Thomas-Millett and are looking forward to having fun and making memories while they represent their school, Ammanford and their country.

Savannah said: “I’m looking forward to a good weekend with the children and their parents in the Worlds. I hope they have a fantastic weekend making memories on and off the dance floor, meeting new friends from all over the UK and abroad.

“I’m very proud of every one of them for taking part in such a prestigious competition.”

Prior to the competition, the students at the academy took part in a 12-hour danceathon to help raise funds to allow them to compete in competitions across the UK.

The Inspire Arts Academy students will be competing in the World Freestyle Dance Championships at Winter Gardens, Blackpool between June 23-25.
