JOBCENTRE coaches in Carmarthenshire are helping more people into work, with six per cent less people claiming benefits over the last year.

There are three Jobcentres in the county – Ammanford, Carmarthen and Llanelli – and they support local and national employers across a range of sectors and provide personal support for all jobseekers.

Some of the support offered by work coaches at the Jobcentres includes ensuring that jobseekers are able to access work opportunities and know what they are able to claim.

There are also dedicated support for those aged 50 and over, or those with health conditions to ensure they have opportunities.

In latest news on the Carmarthenshire Jobcentres, Ammanford Jobcentre has been working with a cleaning contractor associated with Walter Group in Tir-Y-Dail. They are looking to recruit cleaning staff for a project involving flood prevention.

The Llanelli Jobcentre has been hosting weekly visits from Apollo Teaching to interact with candidates interested in teaching assistant and teaching careers.

The legacy in the community project has expanded into Carmarthenshire and is offering support and training to people living with disabilities and long-term health conditions.

There was a Prospero Teaching recruitment day in Carmarthen Jobcentre this month to register potential candidates for local education roles, where they interviewed and registered potential candidates and matched them to education positions in local schools.

There were five successful interviews and there are plans for more events.

Carmarthen Jobcentre has also been supporting the Ivy Bush Hotel in their search for a receptionist and kitchen staff and Farm Foods in Carmarthen in their search for staff.

The three Jobcentres have been supporting Cross Hands-based ND Care, a care support services company with their recruitment campaign and Acorn Recruitment held a second employability hub at Pentre Awel, a site providing world-class medical research and health care delivery. The project will create more than 1,800 jobs and training or apprenticeship opportunities.

The Jobcentres and Career Wales are continuing to support Team Precision in Capel Hendre after it announced a number of redundancies.

Minister for Employment, Guy Opperman MP said: “Our drive to get more people into work and grow the economy has seen inactivity fall for the fifth month in a row. Vacancies continue to drop; employment is up and the numbers on company payrolls are also up.

“We’re investing £3.5 billion to remove barriers to work - with extra support for people with health conditions, an expansion of free childcare and arming jobseekers with the skills they need through tailored training and extra work coach time.”
