PENSIONERS in Carmarthenshire are being urged to ensure they are not missing out on their Pension Credit Payment.

During Pension Credit Week of Action (June 12-16), Jonathan Edwards MP has called for pensioners to check that they are not missing out on the payment which provides around £3,500 per year of income to vulnerable pensioners on average.

Mr Edwards, the MP for Carmarthen East & Dinefwr, said: “It is vital that during this difficult time that constituents are claiming all the help that is available to them.

"During this week of action, I would encourage pensioners to check their eligibility and I hope that bringing attention to this benefit will improve take up among those missing out in the constituency.

“It is important to note that Pension Credit can open doors to additional help and support – including help with heating costs, council tax, free TV licence for over 75’s and the extra cost of living payments. Individuals can check their claim by contacting Age UK, Citizen’s Advice Bureau or Independent Age.”

Claims can be made at www.gov.uk/pension-credit or by calling the freephone pension credit claim line on 0800 99 1234.
