IF you have ever wanted to try a giant banana split, then you’ll get the chance in Ammanford next month!

Ammanford’s Fairtrade Banana Split is returning - with the 100-foot banana split stretching the length of the Victorian Arcade in College Street.

Ammanford Fair Trade Town group hosted the event every year from 2009 to 2020, with the 2020 one held just weeks before the covid pandemic led to the UK going into lockdown for the first time.

The event will be making a welcome return but there will be a few changes which includes having individual servings and bringing own spoons.

All ingredients are being donated by the local Co-Op stores.

Phil Broadhurst said: "Post Covid, we thought people may be less willing to eat a shared Banana Split, so we are giving everyone individual servings this year. We also want to cut down on single use plastic so rather than us supplying spoons, we'd like people to bring along their own.

“Other than that, it will be the same great Fairtrade community event it's always been, and this year will be extra special, after missing two years, and also because we'll be celebrating both Ammanford's 20 years as a Fair Trade Town and Wales' 15 years as a Fair Trade Nation."

There will also be activities and stalls with local community groups in the plaza at the top of the arcade.

The free event will be held on Friday, May 12 at 6pm at Ammanford’s Victorian Arcade on College Street.
