CARDIFF will be hosting a special food and music festival series over the coronation weekend.

Foodies Festival, a touring celebrity food and music festival series will be in Cardiff’s Bute Park from May 6-8.

The three-day event over the coronation weekend will see live cooking demonstrations from top chefs including 2022 Great British Bake Off winner Syabira Yusoff, 2020 Bake Off: The Professionals winner Thibault Courtoisier and 2021 winners Andrew Minto and Michael Coggan.

James and Georgia Sommerin – of Michelin Star restaurant Home in Penarth will be there will Michelin star chef Hywel Griffith from Oxwich’s Beach House.

The likes of Owen Morgan (BBC Saturday Kitchen and Channel 4 Sunday Brunch chef), Tommy Heaney and Simmie Vedi will also be showing off their culinary skills.

Also appearing will be Anand George, Dave Killick from Masterchef: The Professionals, Antonio Simone, Antonio Cersosimo and Lee Skeet.

Syabira Yusoff said: “I’m looking forward to sharing my passion and cooking in front of a live audience on the Foodies Festival tour.

“I’ll be baking some of my favourite cakes, sharing recipe ideas and talking about my amazing experience on Bake Off.”

Hywel Griffith said: “After cooking at the Bristol Foodies Festival last year, my feedback to the team was to bring the festival to Wales… and here it is in Cardiff this year! What better way to spend the weekend than walking around eating delicious food, watching some of your favourite chefs cooking in live theatres and listening to great music.”

There will be live music from Scouting For Girls, Toploader, Craig Charles Funk and Soul Club and Callum Beattie.

Scouting For Girls said: “We always look forward to Foodies and it just wouldn’t be summer without it! The festivals have a great vibe, and we often bring our family and friends along to enjoy the fun. We’ve all taken a liking to the Japanese Bao Buns and the Jamaican Jerk Chicken, so we’ll also be looking forward to scoffing that!

As it is the coronation weekend, visitors will enjoy a royally themed schedule of TV cooking show champions and award-winning chefs in the theatres, creating their signature dishes and sharing tips and tricks.

There will also be tempting treats on offer and a Kids Cookery School where younger attendees will be able to prepare their own food.

There will also be a drinks theatre, shopping village and feasting tent.

There will be something for everyone, including a fairground, children’s activities and family-friendly areas and much more.

For the fifth year running, the festival is supporting Musicians Against Homelessness (MAH) with tickets raising money for UK-wide homelessness charity Crisis.

MAH founder Emma Rule said: “We are thrilled to be back at Foodies with our music stage and fantastic line-up of artists, raising much needed funds during these challenging times.”
