A MAN has been found not guilty of his involvement in an alleged stabbing in Ystradgynlais last November.

Gregory Morgan was due to stand trial at Swansea Crown Court today (Monday), alongside co-defendants Kathryn Llewellyn and Teresa Morgan-Peters, over the incident on November 1, 2022.

Morgan, 37, of Heol Meurig in Cwm-twrch Isaf had been charged with conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm, based on messages between him and the complainant.

However, before the trial got under way, prosecutor Robin Rouch said no evidence would be presented against Morgan.

Judge Geraint Walters formally announced a not guilty verdict, and Morgan was released.

Llewellyn and Morgan-Peters will continue to face trial this week.

On November 1, a woman was taken to hospital after being reportedly stabbed with a knife on Pen-y-Bryn in Ystradgynlais at around 1.55am.

Llewellyn, 43, of Golwg y Mynydd in Godrergraig, Swansea, and Morgan-Peters, 45, of Dolfain in Ystradgynlais, were arrested following the incident.

Both denied charges of burglary with intent to inflict GBH on the complainant, and wounding with intent, again with intent to inflict GBH on the complainant – both relating to the incident on November 1.

For a charge of unlawful wounding, Llewellyn pleaded not guilty, while Morgan-Peters pleaded guilty.

Both defendants denied having a bladed article/knife in a public place – referring to a Stanley Knife at Pen-y-Bryn on November 1 – while Morgan-Peters denied having a ‘lock knife’ at the scene on that date.

The two remaining defendants were remanded into custody.

The trial will now open on Tuesday, April 18.
