A SEMI-DERELICT property in Ystalyfera sold for more than its guide price at auction.
17 Danygraig, in Pantteg, near Ystalyfera, was listed by Paul Fosh Auctions for £123,000 plus when it went to auction earlier this month.
The four-bedroom property which is in need of a complete refurbishment, was sold for £140,000 after attracting 11 bids from five interested parties.
The property – which is set in its own grounds on a hillside – was sold with the feature of a distinctive pink bathroom, which could be replaced during the revamp.
New owners will have to battle with nature which has encroached into the downstairs of the property, but could turn the building – which retains its ancient Aga in the kitchen – into a commanding property.
MORE NEWS:
Gemma Vaughan of Paul Fosh Auctions said: “There is no doubt that this could well become a distinctive and commanding house, once the considerable work needed to bring it back to its best including winning the battle about nature encroaching into various parts of the building, is completed.
"Works have started in places to strip back parts of this rambling and very interesting building. There's an ancient Aga which remains in the kitchen, a room which is flooded with sunlight through its French windows.
"The extended property, ideally located for access to the Brecon Beacons National Park, with good road links to the M4, Swansea, The Mumbles and Gower, could offer a number of uses, subject to any necessary consents.
"Currently the building has an entrance hallway, kitchen, three reception rooms and utility on the ground floor. The first floor offers four bedrooms and the family bathroom. There is also a partial extension to the rear.
"The property, with a gated drive and car port area, has surrounding land which could be ideal for development, subject to any necessary planning consents.
"There are a good range of local amenities and shopping facilities, with additional facilities and amenities available in the nearby larger towns of Ystradgynlais and Pontardawe."
