One of Wales’ true success stories – Coaltown coffee in Ammanford – is the subject of a brand new five part food series which sees Countryfile presenter Sean Fletcher travel around Wales discovering some of the best produce which the nation is currently producing.
Joining Sean on his mouthwatering 'Food Fest Wales' journey will be Welsh Italian chef and cookery writer Michaela Chiappa, businessman and broadcaster Onkar Singh Purewal and S4C’s Ffermio presenter, Meinir Howells.
Coaltown is the brainchild of Scott James who started roasting his own coffee beans in an old barbecue set up in his garage way back in 2014.
Since then he has moved on to produce high-grade, small-batch, ethically sourced coffee from his slickly revamped former industrial unit and has carved out a reputation for himself as one of Britain’s leading roasters.
During the first episode, viewers will watch Sean attend one of Wales’s biggest foodie events, namely the Abergavenny Food Festival where he’ll meet barbecue experts Sam Evans and Shauna Guinn and help them prepare a fabulous barbecue chicken recipe.

Meanwhile, in Ammanford, Michaela Chiappa will find out how to get the best out of Coaltown’s coffee while Onkar will be on a mission to find something tasty for his food-fussy triplets.
He enlists the help of mum and chef Claudine Balstridge who makes healthy kids’ meals and will show him a cheap and easy way to make healthy ice cream using fruit and yogurt.
Food Fest Wales is part of a UK-wide series of programmes which will all be available on BBC iPlayer from 6 February.
